Messages have a home of their own in the app: tap the Messages icon in the top bar of the home screen — the one with the unread badge — and you land on a page with two tabs: Chats for your conversations, Communities for your groups.
Chats: your private conversations
A chat is a private conversation between you and one other person. To start one, go to their profile and tap Message, or use the new conversation button in the Messages page, which searches among your friends.
You can send text messages, and the conversation updates in real time — you will see when a message has been delivered and when the other person is typing. If you are no longer friends with someone, a new mirada reconnects you before you can chat again.
When a new message arrives you get a notification (if you enabled them), and the Messages icon shows how many conversations are unread.
Communities: your groups
The Communities tab gathers every group conversation, in three sections:
- Event chats — the rooms of the events you are attending. An event chat is opened by the organiser and closes when the event is over; the dedicated guide "The Event Room" explains how they work.
- Communities — the groups you joined: one community per city, and theme communities that gather people who love technique, music, or a style.
- To discover — groups suggested from the city in your preferences and your interests. Tap Join to get in: no approval needed, you can read right away.
Inside a community you can write, react, and see who is a member. From the ⋯ menu you can mute notifications — you stay in the community, without alerts — or leave the community; you can join again at any time.
A note for new members: you can read and join communities right away, but you can write as soon as your account is approved — it is one of the ways Tanguear keeps the community genuine.
Archiving conversations
If you want to keep your inbox tidy, you can archive a conversation. Archived conversations are not deleted — they move to the Archived section, stop appearing in the main list, and stop sending you notifications. You can bring them back at any time.
Blocking
If someone sends unwanted messages, you can block them. Blocked users can no longer write to you or see your profile. You manage your blocked users from Preferences › Privacy › Blocked users.
Deleting a conversation
Deleting a conversation removes the messages only for you — the other person keeps their copy.
